Art for Humanity, one of the partners in this event, is collecting shoes for their mission work. Shoes desired are any type (dress, athletic, work boots, etc.) of gently worm or new shoes for all ages and genders

Art For Humanity is an all volunteer charity. This year, they have delivered approximately $750,000 worth of humanitarian aid with a budget of less that $100,000.
Their Mission is to help the poor to help themselves.

Their Strategy: They collect donated used items.  Those donations include  shoes, clothing,  sheets, towels, etc. They give those donations to poor families, so that they can use some of the donations for the needs of their extended family and sell some. With the proceeds, they build a home, pay educational expenses and begin a small home based business with which they provide for their family.

Their Focus: They focus on four systemic ways for a family to overcoming poverty.

1. Raising educated children: They assist families to keep their children in school.

2. Assisting the desperately poor to begin small family based businesses (art and craft, sewing, bike repairs, farming, etc). These small businesses allow them to provide for their family.

3. They supply vitamins to pregnant and nursing women as a way of allowing a child to begin life properly nourished for a healthy development. They also provide shoes. Without shoes, parasites and infections become serious. They are planning the formation of medical clinics in communities without medical facilities.

4. Supporting impoverished families in their efforts to build a home: For a family to move out of poverty, a home is important. With a home, they are able to have a home based business, keep themselves and their children healthy and safe.

They will have some flyers/informational pamphlets at the registration table.

SO, BE PREPARED FOR FUN, A Great Day of Golf, and By Bringing a pair of shoes for the shoe drive, you’ll have an extra chance at one of the great raffle prizes. Remember, every pair get’s you a free raffle ticket!!!!!

Since we don’t have email addresses for all players, PLEASE, PLEASE pass this on to any of your foursome players that you don’t see in the “To” address box.

See you all on Monday morning,

Jim Wilson
