We are always trying to teach the poor practical ways they can help themselves making the best of their limited resources. We enlist the help of native speakers to record videos to best communicate the message that we normally do one on one face to face.
This first video teaches the highly practical concept of Opportunity Cost. We teach them that when they buy something it costs a certain amount of money but it also cost them the opportunity to do something more productive with that money. For example, if they buy a consumer item to use, like a cell phone or a music CD, that cost them X amount of money but it also cost them the opportunity to buy something else with that money that they could have sold for a profit.
This is, Yudy Canalas, a student at TLC translating the seminar Glen Evans did teaching students the concept of Opportunity Cost.
