We want to assist 100 families who have been homeless since Mitch struck in 98. These people not only lost their home, they lost their land. It washed down the mountain into the river and away forever. We can build a modest but sound and secure home for about $7000 each. This is mostly for materials because the family will provide much of the labor themselves.

In other parts of Honduras, families who have never had a home for the first time will have a home. Mauro, has been married for 18 years, has five children. This will be the first home the family has ever had. In Honduras, many homeless families divide up and live with other family members. For example some children will live with one family member and other children with others. The father and mother might move each few days staying with various family members in over crowded housing. Or, the family may live in a shack made of cardboard, sticks or whatever can be accumulated.
