HIBS School

HIBS is changing the world…one child at a time.

We’ve learned the best way to bring change is to begin very young. In this way, we are helping to shape the character which is much more effective than trying to reshape it a few years later.  Not only is this effective with children, it is also very effective with their parents. They learn better parenting skills which get passed on.

HIBS… Honduras Independence Bilingual School has been helping students from poor families achieve a life of independence since 2006.

HIBS is not the normal Honduran school. For example, they have a child psychologist on staff. Many children come from difficult lives. Some have learning or emotional problems. The psychologist counsels with children and  coaches the teaching staff and parents.

The goal of HIBS is to address the body, mind and spirit.. It is not only a place of learning. It is a place of healing and wellness.

In addition to elementary education for children, as a service to the community, HIBS also provides adult education in the areas of nutrition, sanitation and parenting.

The current effort is to find sponsors for the new students.  Here are pictures of some of the students needing sponsorship.

Seal of Excellence

The Seal of Excellence is awarded to Charities that certify on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
