This is the current teaching staff at TLC. From left to right.

Ira & Sarah from Oregon who’ve been on campus for about a year. Ashley from Minnesota for 8 months. Jana & Bennon, the new Academic Deans from Germany and Alabama, one month. Malcolm from Arlington, Va. 6 months. They are the long term volunteers who provide continuity between all the short term volunteers who come. Ira, Sarah, Ashley and Malcolm will all be rotating out within a month or two.

Candida’s New House

Candida, the cook at TLC, has been sleeping in the student dorm but being of a different generation, she likes to go to sleep much earlier than do the students. So we built a house for her and her children. She loves the peace and quite of her new digs pictured below. Thanks for the generosity of those who made it possible.

More Honeymooners

Another new couple have joined us. Ben and Martina are spending their first four months of marriage volunteering with us teaching English as well as other classes. Being from London, we suspect their real motive is to help the volunteers from the States to learn correct English pronunciation.

The photo is of them while out on a wilderness hike. The fallen tree they are sitting on is lying across the river beneath them which flows by the campus.

Yoga Mats Donated

A big thank you to Dan and Connie Walsdorf for sending nine, brand new yoga mats to the campus! The students and volunteers are all very excited to no longer have to use blankets and towels for their daily yoga practice. We have a feeling there will now be a lot less falling!

Roads are good

Today’s event is on!!!! We are here as are many others. The neat thing is we are not in the sales or show area. We are actually set up in the winery. That is, in the working part of the winery where they process the grapes and with the giant size vats, etc. For more info.

Ashley’s Adventures

Almost all who volunteer with us for a few months take the time to backpack around Honduras. Ashley, pictured below is the most recent. She just got back on campus today after three weeks of backpacking throughout much of Honduras.

Backpacking is the best way to get in touch with the local culture and really experience what Honduras is like. In doing so, one comes to realize that all the bad press Honduras receives regarding violence has almost no implication to those visiting Honduras. Most people traveling throughout the country would never recognize the Honduras they see with the Honduran in the news.

Old Year “Dolls”

These are used to represent the old year and can be found decorating everything from front porches of homes to bridges on major highways. They are put up the last few days of the year and are burnt at midnight as the new year arrives.

Honeymooners

What a way to prepare lesson plans. Brandon and Mary are spending their first 3 months of marriage teaching with us in Honduras. As an English teacher, she has focused on grammar. Brandon is teaching logic, problem solving and public presentation. With them being from Alabama, Glen enjoys not being the only one with a southern accent. Together they are teaching the west coast volunteers correct pronunciation.

Winter Coats Needed

This photo illustrates that winter coats are very much appreciated in Honduras. This time a year, many are asking for them….especially on campus. Anything with a hood is especially appreciated.
